Pakistan Institute for Policy Research and Impact

Empowering governments and businesses for a prosperous future and strategic growth

About Us

The Pakistan Institute for Policy Research and Impact (PIPRI) is a vibrant and diverse community of scholars, jurists, seasoned professionals, journalists, civil society activists, and civic leaders, all dedicated to advancing equitable growth opportunities and supporting the rule of law in Pakistan. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in both rural and urban areas, with a particular focus on public sector reform. As a leading public policy think tank, we publish a quarterly newsletter and maintain a robust network of emerging leaders.

Our Expertise

PIPRI is home to distinguished experts across a wide array of policy areas, including housing, water security, transit trade, healthcare, energy (encompassing oil, gas, and power sectors), textiles, climate change, environment, forestry, logistics, public safety, social services, information technology, education, law, commerce, taxation, and economics. Leveraging their diverse expertise, our fellows develop and propose policy solutions to address the urgent challenges facing Pakistan today. Together, we aim to enrich and influence public policy discourse, provide critical policy input at all levels of government, and cultivate civic, business, and intellectual leaders who can help realize the full promise and potential of Pakistan’s citizens.

Our Objectives

Sustainable Reforms Partner

There is an urgent need for reforms and corrective measures in various sectors to expand value-added exports, lower interest rates for sustainable projects, and encourage private sector credit over public sector borrowing. We emphasize capacity building in hydropower, project preparation through DFI, digital technology, regulatory regime, environment, energy, and agriculture.

Expertise For Results

Our goal is to reduce reliance on external borrowing, introduce transparency in public sector functioning and adopt due diligence in divesting of strategic assets, including infrastructure, power plants, national airlines, rail, and shipping. Reducing the cost of doing business is crucial to maintaining export competitiveness while minimizing subsidies.

Since gaining independence in 1947, Pakistan has faced numerous challenges, with the current economic situation being particularly severe.
